Kitty Collars Galore!

Well after some fighting with my sewing machine I have finally managed to create some new kitty collars.

Breakaway Cat Collar wIth Bell and Charm

I have already had to create 2 of these ones because they day I made the first one my kitty Marble appeared with scratches on her nose and no collar. I think she lost it on purpose just so she could have a new handmade one.

I’d made 3 different ones that day so I let her pick out which she preferred and after showing no interest Jazz picked this one for her. Marble collar

She looks very cute in it even with her bald spot from the scratches she suffered just trying to get rid of her old collar. She’s usually such a pretty kitty but looks like a ruffian with her scarred face, I really hope the fur grows back soon.

There’s now a full range of kitty collars available in my Etsy shop. Click here to see them all.

Oh my! Oh my!

I have just realised I haven’t blogged since December. I really must get back into this. Not much has been going on around here but as requested by my kitties I will be starting to make cat collars very soon.

I had a hard time finding all the bits and pieces so I thought I would share where I got them from.
The breakaway buckle to keep your kitties safe was the hardest to find since living in the UK it was tricky to find someone who would post to the UK without charging something stupid like $80 shipping. I found a lovely Etsy seller that put together a custom listing for me so I could purchase all the hardware from one place.
10 SETS, Cat Collar Kits, 3/8 inch, 40 Pieces, 9.5mm (set catA)
Sewing Supplies has very reasonable prices and  ships very fast I received my item within 5 days of purchase which is excellent considering its travelled halfway across the planet.

There’s also a fantastic amount of ribbons in 3/8 inch width on Esty but a lot of sellers charge a lot in shipping just to get it to the UK. I hate to over pay on shipping especially on something as light as ribbon but I found some great ribbons at a little shop called scrapwithstyle.

She has a huge selection of ribbons in different widths and has very reasonable shipping costs. The ribbons themselves are fantastic quality with vibrant colours. I couldn't fault my shopping experience with her at all.

She also offers coupon codes if you fan her on facebook. I managed to get 10% off my whole order and received another coupon with my order.

So I’m nearly ready to go, I bought some bells (to save the birdies) from my local sewing shop along with some nylon webbing all I need to do now is set up the sewing machine and away I go.

Keep an eye out for these collars appearing soon at Poppy Seed Cats.

Snow in November and then into December

Hey everyone, here in rainy England our rain has turned to snow, i've never seen snow in November so this is some freaky weather. So while the roads are quiet and everyone is huddled in front of the fire i'm out making snow cats.

Every year I make a snow cat and leave it outside my front door where it will make people smile when they walk by, everyone is so grumpy when the weathers bad so its nice to brighten someone's day.

Heres some cat related items I found on etsy that I find absolutely fabulous. I hate to mention christmas but your kitty would be the talking point of your christmas party with these great accessories.

Please only dress up a willing cat and never force it to do anything it doesn't want to, I find bribing with treats will butter them up and make them adhere to your plans.

Helping the Kitty Cats of the World

Well hello there on this lovely sunny day, I hope you have all been enjoying the last of the sunshine before winter sets in. All my cats have been out today soaking up the rays.

I would like to discuss the problem of all the homeless kitties and endangered big cats out there. I recently signed up to save the jaguar with wwf, you can find out how to help towards saving this incredible feline by visiting http://rainforestrescue.sky.com/
Photograph of a jaguar. Adopt a jaguar for just £3 a month. Your support will help save 1 billion trees in the Amazon rainforest

Also with winter coming up theres lots of cats and kitties that need rescuing, the RSPCA are struggling for space and could do with your support. I used to volunteer for the RSPCA and throughly enjoyed spending time with the kitties even though I was tempted to take every single one home. One kitty that really needs a home right now is Mindy who you can see a picture of to the right.

Mindy a white cat with black markings © RSPCA
Mindy is a two-year-old white female cat who is currently in the care of the RSPCA Lincolnshire East Branch. She
is one of the longest staying residents at the branch and sadly keeps being overlooked by potential new owners because s
he was born with a deformed foot but she manages to get around very well.

If you would like to read more about mindy visit http://www.rspca.org.uk/allaboutanimals/pets/rehoming/specialappeals/details/-/article/EM_RehomingCatMindyOctober10 for information on adopting her.

Do something wonderful this year and give a homeless cat a home or donate to one of the many charities to help preserve felines in the wild.

I will be sending my usual donation of toys to the RSPCA cats this christmas.
